Sewing course - Certificate II Level in Applied Fashion Design & Technology

Course Description:

Academy of Design sewing course short course!!Learn professional methods of sewing starting from the basics of construction!! Every Saturday once a week!
This course is designed for new sewers and it is not essential that students have had any previous experience. Towards the end of the 10weeks students will go onto finished garments and begin to apply many of the techniques learnt over the past weeks. Students will learn on industrial sewing machines in a professional workroom environment. The workroom is specially designed to represent large factory workspaces and emulate closely the fashion industry. Students who wish to study sewing should note that for work health & safety reasons closed in shoes must be worn and hair and jewellery secured or tied back.


Equipment to bring:

  1. A4 (large) binder folder with lever
  2. Plastic sleeves
  3. Black A4 card to go into plastic sleeves
  4. 4 meters of good quality calico
  5. Fabric scissors & paper scissors
  6. Ruler / Pencil / Pen
  7. Basic sewing equipment - pins, needles, thread snips, fabric marker/chalk

Possible Career Outcome:

This is the perfect pre-requisite for Certificate and Diploma level study
