Debut designer a finalist

aneta rycombel

BURLEIGH fashion designer, Aneta Rycombel has been named a finalist in Fashion Exposed's design awards program, Debut, with her label Janin. Ms Rycombel will get media coverage and a fully designed stand to promote her label at the Melbourne exhibition in August.

“I was so happy about that,” Ms Rycombel said. “I will get exposure for my label and get to check out the Melbourne market.” Originally from Poland, Ms Rycombel has always wanted to peruse fashion. “I thought it would be a great opportunity to come to Australia as a student and study fashion,” she said. “After studying fashion at the Academy of Design, I thought ‘that's the plan for me'.”

Although this could be a great launching pad for Ms Rycombel's career, she is determined to remain living on the Gold Coast. “I love the Gold Coast,” Ms Rycombel said. “And my partner is here.” Ms Rycombel's label has a feminine style that offers clean cut utilitarian pieces and features understated jackets, a silver feature dress and pencil trousers. “It's amazing how you can play around with different looks,” Ms Rycombel said. “And when you create something, it's a beautiful thing.” Debut curator, Uli Hasel said the finalists had much potential. “A very promising new generation of Debut labels bringing hidden treasures, secrets and a touch of space travel,” Ms Hasel said. Ms Rycombel has one main focus surrounding the exhibition in August. “To establish my label, Janin,” Ms Rycombel said. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Burleigh designer. “I'm really happy one of my dreams is coming true,” she said.
